AKB48 is a Japanese girlｓ’ idol group. AKB stands for Akihabara, the world famous electric town in Tokyo. On the other hand, the number 48 has little to do with the number of members, which is actually larger than 48. This group has already become such a huge social phenomenon that many overseas media have reported it. The group’s concept is “idols you can meet” and unlike other idols groups, it has its own theater and performs daily so that its fans can see their idols live. The fans can vote for their favorites in deciding which girls get to take part in the recording of the next single.
